NuVibez Restaurant Bar & Lounge was created from the heart of a Brooklyn girl with Southern roots. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, owner Lateasha Dowdy wanted to bring something different to Newport News , a place that felt grown, welcoming, familiar, and full of culture. A place where the food feels like comfort, the music takes you back, and the atmosphere feels like you’re stepping into your granny’s house with a grown-folks twist. NuVibez is family-run, with Lateasha working alongside her children to bring the vision to life. Together, they built NuVibez as more than just a restaurant and lounge, it’s a place where family, food, music, and community come together. The space is 90s-inspired, with Black movie, music, and cultural icons displayed throughout the restaurant. Every picture, every song, every plate, and every vibe was chosen to make guests feel connected to a time when the music hit different, the food brought people together, and the memories felt real. Whether you’re coming for dinner, happy hour, karaoke, game night, brunch, or a night out with friends, NuVibez was designed to feel like somewhere familiar  but still fresh, grown, and elevated.
